Why the Shillermarkt is the place to be on Saturday afternoons

As beautiful as the neighbourhood schillerkiez around the Tempelhof Park is, so is the market that takes place every Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm at the Herfurtplatz markt (Shillermarkt) in the streets around the church. I of course, as a neighbour, have more reasons to love this market and my participation. You can't imagine how much I enjoy talking to the people I meet anyway on my walks and in the beautiful cafes of Neukolln such as Laidak. Okay I know, it's true there aren't that many beautiful cafes left in the neighborhood, however there is still a beautiful energy in several of them. However, the market around the church is not only beautiful because it has beautiful smiling faces that take a little walk every Saturday. The new season at the market has already started for us for 2021. We are back to the beautiful little farmer’s market in Prenzlauer Berg at Seelower strasse, every Saturday from 10-4pm. This year we sell two varieties - Koroneiki and Kalamon - of the finest quality of olive oil (cold pressed), directly imported from our farm in Southern Peloponnese. We also sell a special soap made also in Laconia region with the finest quality of olive oil. Two of our new amazing products that we are about to bring in Berlin are: mountain tea and oregano, both imported from the mountain Parnonas. Kalamon olive oil: A beneficial oil for your health

The Kalamon variety has the most Oleocanthal (very beneficial for health) of any variety in the world, when it is oiled, according to Prokopis Magiatis, professor of Pharmacy at the University of Athens, who spoke about the latest clinical and scientific data on the beneficial role of high phenolic olive oil in health, at the 4th Olive Oil & and table olives Festival that took place in Kalamata in 2018. Our friends, from now on, can also find us at the local Market in Wittenbergplatz in Schöneberg, every Thursday from 10am to 5pm. We sell as always the finest quality of extra virgin olive oil, directly imported from our farm in southern Peloponnese (region of Laconia) as well as our new product: Soap made with extra virgin olive oil. Saturday, May 9th and every Saturday we are on Bauernmarkt Seelower Strasse in Prenzlauer Berg. As we already mentioned to you in previous announcements It’s a beautiful little farmer’s market and it runs from 10-4. The market sells also good wines and even has a stand of special salami. The atmosphere is lovely and there are also nice cafes in the street so you can have a coffee to go... We hope to see you there, this Saturday is an official holiday in Berlin. According the weather forecast report, the weather is going to be super nice. This time, besides or authentic and unmixed olive oil directly from one farm in Laconia in Southern Greece, this time we offer you soap made with extra virgin olive oil. Soon in Berlin: “Zoe Soap” made with extra virgin olive oil

Our new product, as we already wrote in a previous post is soap made with extra virgin olive oil from Laconia region. It will arrive in Berlin in about a month from now. If you want to pre-order please contact us. Zoe Soap is a small workshop in the south part of Peloponnese, between two mountains Taygetos and Parnonas. We produce olive oil soaps, ointments, liquid soap, lip balms using extra virgin olive oil, the “liquid gold” of our region. We collect our herbs from the two mountains and we collaborate with local producers for our honey and beeswax. We make everything with care and respect to the environment. None of our products is tested in animals or contains any preservatives. We use only essential oils, zests, flower petals, and herb teas. A new Berlin Oil Connection product is coming soon: Home made olive soap by Zoe from the Lakonia region, exactly where our olive oil comes from. This is a high quality product using only fair ingredients. Zoe makes her soaps in a cold process to ensure that all the vitamins and the anti-oxides from the olive oil , the herbs, the zests, the clays, the juices, the honey and the essential oils are held together in every soap bar she makes. The cold process of saponification takes four weeks for the soaps to be ready. The combination of oil and water is done through caustic soda. During the 4 weeks cure the caustic soda reacts with the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and evaporates from the soap, leaving a thin layer of white dust that is harmless and can be removed to make the soap look better.
