Kalamon olive oil: A beneficial oil for your health

Kalamon olive oil: A beneficial oil for your health

The Kalamon variety has the most Oleocanthal (very beneficial for health) of any variety in the world, when it is oiled, according to Prokopis Magiatis, professor of Pharmacy at the University of Athens, who spoke about the latest clinical and scientific data on the beneficial role of high phenolic olive oil in health, at the 4th Olive Oil & and table olives Festival that took place in Kalamata in 2018. This is one of the main conclusions of the Aristoil program so far, as he said referring to the oiling of the Kalamon variety, but also to the oil of Koroneiki and Athenolia, but emphasizing that 72% of the samples of Greek olive oils that have been examined, may have a claim to health. The highest content of "Oleocanthal" in fact - the main privilege of the Greek varieties as he said - is observed in the Region of Peloponnese. New product: Soap made with extra virgin olive oil.

New product: Soap made with extra virgin olive oil.

A new Berlin Oil Connection product is coming soon: Home made olive soap by Zoe from the Lakonia region, exactly where our olive oil comes from. This is a high quality product using only fair ingredients. Zoe makes her soaps in a cold process to ensure that all the vitamins and the anti-oxides from the olive oil , the herbs, the zests, the clays, the juices, the honey and the essential oils are held together in every soap bar she makes. The cold process of saponification takes four weeks for the soaps to be ready. The combination of oil and water is done through caustic soda. During the 4 weeks cure the caustic soda reacts with the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and evaporates from the soap, leaving a thin layer of white dust that is harmless and can be removed to make the soap look better. Due to the long production time why we advise our customers if they...

Video: Berlin Oil Connection tour in Laconia (Spring 2020)

Welcome to paradise. This is the Andrianos farm where our olive oil comes from. Located in Southern Peloponnese, in an area called Laconia. Turn your sound on to hear the concert of birds.  With Berlin Oil Connection, we import extra virgin olive oil from a farm in Southern Greece. The Andrianos farm is located in Laconia, around 60 kilometres from Sparta. Every year we bring pure olive oil from one harvest from this farm to Berlin. Because it comes from a single farm and from one of the best growing regions in the world, it has a very low acidity, which gives an intense taste but means it is not burning in the mouth as you maybe know from farmer's oil of other regions. Also this means high heat resistance, it is suitable for frying and can even be used several times. With the intense pure taste it is very suitable for making salads etc. This video shows you the two...

New ideas for your breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, that's for sure. Therefore, from today on, we would like to share some ideas as well as short stories  on our blog to give you inspiration, how to use a variety ingredients in order to make your breakfast better and of course tastier. In fact, when we say we love olive oil we mean it. We use it almost for everything. For example with scrambled eggs. Chop half an onion in little pieces and a green paprika, add a little of extra virgin olive oil (yeah, if the olive oil is extra virgin is nothing wrong to fry with it and it is more tasty than butter) and fry them just for few minutes. Then add the egg mix (additionally with a little milk). The trick for making perfect scrambled eggs is whisking the eggs before cooking them. Whisking incorporates air, which produces fluffier scrambled eggs. Green paprika and onion and...
