A walk in the local market of agricultural products in Skala Laconia was something I had wanted to do for a long time. But something always came up and I postponed it for the next time I would visit this small town located in the heart of the plain of Laconia. For those who don't know, Skala, is one of the most important centers of agricultural production in Laconia. The main agricultural product exported is citrus fruits (mainly oranges). Farmers in Skala produce of course also excellent quality vegetables, such as tomatoes and other vegetables. Skala is a centre of economic life in Laconia. The local market is held every Tuesday in a central point of the town and there are permanent places for producers from Skala and the surrounding villages in the area. The excellent quality olive oil soap that you can buy in Berlin from Berlin Oil Connection is produced by our friend Zoe there.

A new Berlin Oil Connection product is coming soon: Home made olive soap by Zoe from the Lakonia region, exactly where our olive oil comes from. This is a high quality product using only fair ingredients. Zoe makes her soaps in a cold process to ensure that all the vitamins and the anti-oxides from the olive oil , the herbs, the zests, the clays, the juices, the honey and the essential oils are held together in every soap bar she makes. The cold process of saponification takes four weeks for the soaps to be ready. The combination of oil and water is done through caustic soda. During the 4 weeks cure the caustic soda reacts with the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and evaporates from the soap, leaving a thin layer of white dust that is harmless and can be removed to make the soap look better. Due to the long production time why we advise our customers if they...
Welcome to paradise. This is the Andrianos farm where our olive oil comes from. Located in Southern Peloponnese, in an area called Laconia. Turn your sound on to hear the concert of birds.
With Berlin Oil Connection, we import extra virgin olive oil from a farm in Southern Greece. The Andrianos farm is located in Laconia, around 60 kilometres from Sparta. Every year we bring pure olive oil from one harvest from this farm to Berlin. Because it comes from a single farm and from one of the best growing regions in the world, it has a very low acidity, which gives an intense taste but means it is not burning in the mouth as you maybe know from farmer's oil of other regions. Also this means high heat resistance, it is suitable for frying and can even be used several times. With the intense pure taste it is very suitable for making salads etc. This video shows you the two...
Studies have shown that it can do everything from reduce blood pressure and cholesterol and even help prevent cancer. And Greek olive oil might just be the healthiest. As for the Laconian extra virgin olive oil is considered one of the best in the country. Koroneiki variety of olives that the Southern Greek - Laconian olive oil is mainly from, is listed as one of the best varieties in the world. The chemical characteristics of Koroneiki oil are simply perfect. This cultivar is suitable for an early, excellent, extra virgin olive oil. Tfhe Koroneiki olive has one of the highest oil contents (20-30% oil), yet it is very small and difficult to cultivate. The overall yield of oil per tree is still a lot lower, but its return is exceptional quality.
