A walk in the local market of agricultural products in Skala Laconia was something I had wanted to do for a long time. But something always came up and I postponed it for the next time I would visit this small town located in the heart of the plain of Laconia. For those who don't know, Skala, is one of the most important centers of agricultural production in Laconia. The main agricultural product exported is citrus fruits (mainly oranges). Farmers in Skala produce of course also excellent quality vegetables, such as tomatoes and other vegetables. Skala is a centre of economic life in Laconia. The local market is held every Tuesday in a central point of the town and there are permanent places for producers from Skala and the surrounding villages in the area. The excellent quality olive oil soap that you can buy in Berlin from Berlin Oil Connection is produced by our friend Zoe there.
A sunny Tuesday last...
Fusion Festival is one of the most famous events every summer in Germany. It takes place every year in an old soviet military base in East Germany near a village called Lärz in the area of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The area of the festival is huge, the stages are many and the music is loud. Every year djs and music bands from all around Germany and beyond, offer the most contemporary good electronic music of various styles. The annual festival was started by the Kulturkosmos organisation in 1997. It lasts four to six days, usually at the end of June. In 2016, the Fusion Festival event took place from 29 June to 3 July and which has attracted some 70,000 attendees for each year's festival, since the 2013 event, which the comparable American Burning Man event only matched in 2015.
Every year, thousands of Berliners visit the festival, among them also friends of our olive oil. Therefore it would be worth mentioning that...
Taygetos is the highest and most magnificent mountain of the Peloponnese. It has an altitude of over 2,100 metres. The photo you see in this article was taken from our field in mid-January, after a beautiful snowfall. How lucky we are to pick olives and have this view and how much we love this mountain. Every year visitors from every corner of Europe visit the mountain. Apart from the beautiful waterfalls, the beautiful villages and forests, most visitors go to the top of the mountain, the famous pyramid where you can see all the way to Laconia, and deep in the sea you can see Crete. I recommend you to visit this beautiful mountain. Read more here...
As beautiful as the neighbourhood schillerkiez around the Tempelhof Park is, so is the market that takes place every Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm at the Herfurtplatz markt (Shillermarkt) in the streets around the church. I of course, as a neighbour, have more reasons to love this market and my participation. You can't imagine how much I enjoy talking to the people I meet anyway on my walks and in the beautiful cafes of Neukolln such as Laidak. Okay I know, it's true there aren't that many beautiful cafes left in the neighborhood, however there is still a beautiful energy in several of them.
However, the market around the church is not only beautiful because it has beautiful smiling faces that take a little walk every Saturday. It's beautiful because all of the colleagues seem to enjoy it too. Really how beautiful is the whole mosaic of different languages spoken by both those who visit the market and those...

If you live around the area of Neukölln, then you are probably one of our neighbors. Every Saturday we attend the weekly market "Schillermarkt '' in Herrfurthplaz. It is just 10 minutes walk from laidak (boddinplatz) where we store our olive oil and many people who visit our stand which is next to the big Church, we already know each other from various activities in the area, such as a walk at tempelhoffer feld (ex-airport), or simply from the next table with drinks at bars or restaurants in Neukölln.
However it is not only that you know us from the neighborhood, but also that the atmosphere of the market is perfect. Besides us there is the Portuguese friend with the nice food and the guys with the African cuisine. Our friend with the ceramics, the guys with the perfect cheese and the Berlin friend with the high quality German-style bread. We also could not fail to point out the multi-ethnic atmosphere...
